FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, PAUL SCHULTE
Highland is concerned about bullying. We are committed to making Highland a
safe environment for all students. As the weather turns warm some students
often turn to activities that they consider “traditional.” These types of activities
should not occur on or off campus and there will be the appropriate
consequences. We encourage everyone to work together to report any issues.
These tips may be anonymous. Let’s all work together to make Highland High
School a safe place so we can concentrate on learning.
Reminder to all students, but especially seniors, all tardies and absences above
the policy levels must be made up to participate in graduation or receive a
yearbook. The school year is going quickly and we want everyone to participate
in the end of the year activities. Students can look at the list outside the main
office to check their status. Tardies can be made up by attending detention in
room D102, pay a dollar to the treasurer, or do homework in the library after
school. Absences can be made up by working with your teacher, attending
detention in room D102, or homework in the library after school. Tutoring or
homework in the library counts as double time! Catch up now, be on time, and
attend regularly!
Stay focused! Spring is a very important time of year. The students will be
taking a number of high stakes test, including the CRTs, AP, IB, and CTE tests.
Please encourage your student to keep up on their studies and prepare. Last
year Highland made Adequate Yearly Progress. This status is a result of
students’ performance on the CRT test. We can do it again this year! Highland
always ranks tops in total AP tests given. Last year Highland administered the
ninth most tests in the state. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for all the support from the community. Highland is always one of the leaders in volunteer-hours we have in the school. Creating an effective
school is a collaborative effort. Highland is one of the exceptional schools
because of everyone’s effort. “GO RAMS!”
