Because of the Salt Lake City School District's commitment to quality education, we are concerned when a child misses school for any reason. A continuing goal for every child in the District is mastery of basic skills in reading, language arts and mathematics. Absence from school interferes with your child's opportunity to master these skills.

According to the Utah Compulsory Attendance Law (53A-11-101-105) every school age child must be enrolled in school and attend regularly. Parents and Students are responsible for regular attendance. Occasionally a student must be absent from school for reasons that are acceptable to the school as well as the court which include: illness, medical appointment, family emergencies (approved by the administration), death of family members or close friend and family activity or travel (arranged in advance with the principal).

A note or phone call to the Attendance Hotline @ 801.481.4867 or the Attendance Office @ 801.484.4343 Ext. 122 explaining your student's absence is required for each day your student misses school.
