• CAPS: Usually there is a seam and point to the front of the cap (what you wear on your head versus the board on top). You may use hairpins or attach the cap to a headband, to keep it from moving. Caps may be decorated if there is a cultural significance. If you have questions about this, please speak with an admin in the main office. • TASSELS: These are worn on the right. At the end of the commencement ceremony, tassels are moved to the left during the ‘Tassel Ceremony’ to signify your graduation.
• GOWNS: These are worn with the zipper in front, zipped all the way up, over your formalwear. Highland’s gowns are unique to our school and it’s colors, black gowns with a white stripe on each sleeve. Gowns are rentals and must be returned immediately following the ceremony before exiting the arena.
• REGALIA: Cowls are worn with the short, logo end, to the front (ex. NHS blue cowl with yellow logo shown in photo). Stoles are worn around the neck, showing the long ends on the front of the gown (ex. white Honors stole shown in the photo). Cords and Medallions (as shown in photo) are also worn to the front, around the neck. Pins may also be worn, attached to a stole or cord. Please do NOT attach anything to the gown, since these are rentals and returned immediately following the ceremony.
