Your best choice in education is the Salt Lake City School District. All of our schools are committed to the district’s vision of Excellence and Equity: every student, every classroom, every day. In keeping with this vision, our schools offer academically rigorous classes based on the Utah Core curriculum, hold high expectations for all students, respond to individual student needs, and provide a safe and healthy environment for student learning.
For the coming school year, students interested in enrolling in a Salt Lake City School District school who live outside the district or school boundaries may apply for an out-of-resident transfer during the Early Open Enrollment period, from December through mid-February the year before attending or the Late Open Enrollment Period April-July. Applications are available online
Students may apply for enrollment in schools designated as “Open” to transfer. Selected schools and programs may be at capacity for the coming school year and not available as a choice for out-of-resident students. Additionally, some schools, including charter schools, may require a separate application or lottery process.

A fine is a fee that was applied to a student's school account, is unpaid and has a due date.

Create an account with My School Fees and check it regularly. If you have question, please reach out to our Treasurer, West Bludworth. Email west.bludworth@slcschools.org or Call 801.484.4343 x3102.
How would I know if I would qualify for a Fee Waiver?
The Utah State Board of Education School Fee Waiver Application is part of the School Fees Combined forms 24-25 (utah.gov) packet. This packet has a list of eligibility reasons and documentation needed for each. Please review the list to determine if you qualify. Bring your completed form and documentation to the Highland High Main Office for review on August 12 from 9am - 2pm or during the school year (by appointment).
When can I apply for a Fee Waiver?
Monday, August 12th, our administrators have set aside time from 9am - 2pm to review fee waiver applications. Otherwise, between August and April, please contact the main office to schedule an appointment. If you are applying for a Utah State Fee Waiver (an application to waive class fees and some activity fees) you will meet with an administrator who will review and approve/deny your application. Fee Waiver application forms can be found on USBE’s website, Highland’s main webpage, in Highland’s main office or the Treasurer’s office. Applications will only be accepted if they are filled out, signed by a legal parent/guardian and accompanied by necessary documentation to verify the information on your application. Students may submit a fee waiver without a guardian present if it is signed by a parent or guardian and the student brings the correct documentation with the application. For more Utah State School Fees info: https://www.schools.utah.gov/schoolfees
Which fees/fines will the Fee Waiver cover?
s-10-fee-policy-and-fee-waiver-summary-english.pdf (finalsite.net)
"If your student is eligible for fee waivers, all fees must be waived.
Charges for class rings, yearbooks, school pictures, letter jackets, and similar items are not fees and need not be waived. Also, if your student loses or damages school property, the costs of replacement or repair are not fees and need not be waived. Students may be required to pay fees for concurrent enrollment or advanced placement courses. The portion of the fees related specifically to college or post-secondary grades or credit is not subject to fee waiver. The school and school staff cannot withhold, reduce, or enhance grades or credit, or withhold grades, credit, report cards, transcripts, or diplomas to enforce the payment of fees. A school may withhold the official student records of a student responsible for lost or damaged school property; however, the school may not withhold a student’s records that would prevent a student from attending school or being properly placed in school."
How do I complete a Free/Reduced Lunch Application?
Do I need to complete BOTH Fee Waiver and Free/Reduced Meals Application?
Yes. The Fee Waiver and Free/Reduced Meals applications are two separate applications. If you are approved for one, it is likely you would be approved for the other, but BOTH applications would need to be completed separately.

SHADOWING A STUDENT
STUDENTS SHADOWING STUDENTS
AS OF MARCH 2020 CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING SHADOWS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Students shadowing Highland High 9th-11th grade is available, but MUST be scheduled. We take multiple factors into account to allow this, i.e. events/field trips happening during the school day, availability of students and staff, permission needed from administration and the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of the student shadowing and the student being shadowed, etc. -- because of these reasons, we do not allow drop-in shadows. We do not start shadowing days until November and end in March. This is in order to accomodate our state testing schedule. Thank you for your interest in the Ram Fam.
Please complete this form to request a shadowing experience at Highland.
Upon approval, someone from our office will contact you to schedule the shadow.
