Want to be a Highland Student?

To request enrollment at Highland High School for 2026-2027, a student’s legal guardian* can follow these 3 steps to apply:

Step 1. Start an Enrollment Application:

Step 2: Provide Application Documentation:

  • Bring all requested documents and forms to your enrollment appointment. Please ensure you have current address and contact information for the last school your student attended.
    • Some of the required documents you will need to bring are listed here:
      • All new IB, Early Special Permit, Late Special Permit, and Pre-Enrollment students must submit the following to the Counseling Center:
      • 2 Proofs of Address (e.g., utility bill, bank statement, lease agreement, etc.)

      • Notarized Birth Certificate

      • Current Immunization Record

      • Transcript or Report Card (for class placement, required for 10th-12th grade students only)

      • Course Selection Worksheet, found here: Course Catalog  (If you need us to provide you a printed copy, please stop by the school.)

Step 3. Watch for Enrollment Status:

  • As part of the enrollment application process, we must request the student's records from their previous school. Receipt of these records is required before enrollment can be finalized.

Once the records have been received, they will be reviewed, and you will be notified of the student's enrollment status.

Please note that previous schools are allowed up to five business days to send student records. As a result, you may not receive an enrollment decision for approximately 1–2 weeks.

    • Approved? We will be in touch! If approved, you will be provided with next steps such as online registration and parent portal access information.

*Guardianship Information

  • If a student does not live with their natural parent or legal guardian, they must contact the Salt Lake City School District Student Services at 801-578-8599 (440 E. 100 S.) for further instructions.

Please reach out to Heather Parry in the Counseling Center to answer any questions you may have.

  • Where can I get School Fee information?

What is a Fee vs a Fine?

A Fee is Any charge, expense, deposit, rental or other payment as defined in SLCSD Board Policy S10. For further details please review: Microsoft Word - S-10-AP 12-13-2023.docx (finalsite.net)

A fine is a fee that was applied to a student's school account, is unpaid and has a due date.

How do I know if my student has fees?

We are moving to a new system and no longer using My School Fees. Please watch for updates! If you have questions, please reach out to our Treasurer, West Bludworth. Email west.bludworth@slcschools.org or Call 801.484.4343 x3102.

How would I know if I would qualify for a Fee Waiver?
The Utah State Board of Education School Fee Waiver Application is part of the School Fees Combined forms 24-25 (utah.gov) packet. This packet has a list of eligibility reasons and documentation needed for each. Please review the list to determine if you qualify. Bring your completed form and documentation to the Highland High Main Office for review on August 12 from 9am - 2pm or during the school year (by appointment).

When can I apply for a Fee Waiver?
Monday, August 12th, our administrators have set aside time from 9am - 2pm to review fee waiver applications. Otherwise, between August and April, please contact the main office to schedule an appointment. If you are applying for a Utah State Fee Waiver (an application to waive class fees and some activity fees) you will meet with an administrator who will review and approve/deny your application. Fee Waiver application forms can be found on USBE’s website, Highland’s main webpage, in Highland’s main office or the Treasurer’s office. Applications will only be accepted if they are filled out, signed by a legal parent/guardian and accompanied by necessary documentation to verify the information on your application. Students may submit a fee waiver without a guardian present if it is signed by a parent or guardian and the student brings the correct documentation with the application. For more Utah State School Fees info: https/wwwschoolsutahgov/schoolfees

Which fees/fines will the Fee Waiver cover?

    s-10-fee-policy-and-fee-waiver-summary-english.pdf (finalsite.net)

"If your student is eligible for fee waivers, all fees must be waived.

Charges for class rings, yearbooks, school pictures, letter jackets, and similar items are not fees and need not be waived. Also, if your student loses or damages school property, the costs of replacement or repair are not fees and need not be waived. Students may be required to pay fees for concurrent enrollment or advanced placement courses. The portion of the fees related specifically to college or post-secondary grades or credit is not subject to fee waiver. The school and school staff cannot withhold, reduce, or enhance grades or credit, or withhold grades, credit, report cards, transcripts, or diplomas to enforce the payment of fees. A school may withhold the official student records of a student responsible for lost or damaged school property; however, the school may not withhold a student’s records that would prevent a student from attending school or being properly placed in school."

  • STUDENTS SHADOWING STUDENTS

AS OF MARCH 2020 CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING SHADOWS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Students shadowing Highland High 9th-11th grade is available, but MUST be scheduled. We take multiple factors into account to allow this, i.e. events/field trips happening during the school day, availability of students and staff, permission needed from administration and the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of the student shadowing and the student being shadowed, etc. -- because of these reasons, we do not allow drop-in shadows. We do not start shadowing days until November and end in March. This is in order to accomodate our state testing schedule. Thank you for your interest in the Ram Fam.

Please complete this form to request a shadowing experience at Highland.
Upon approval, someone from our office will contact you to schedule the shadow.
